Getting started

What Slope Rider is, whether it is free, and how to start playing in your browser.

What is Slope Rider?

Slope Rider is a single-player 3D arcade game where you steer a glowing ball down an endless, ever-curving downhill slope. You move left and right with the keyboard, on-screen buttons, or a drag gesture, dodging red obstacle blocks and the edges of the neon track. Speed rises the longer you survive, and your distance traveled is your score. Slope Rider is a free, modern implementation of this well-known slope-rolling arcade format, built for the browser.

Is Slope Rider free to play online?

Yes. Slope Rider is completely free and runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to buy, download, or install, and there are no ads interrupting a run, premium tiers, or paywalls. Open sloperider.lol and you can start playing immediately.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. Slope Rider is a 100% browser-based game built with HTML, canvas, and JavaScript. It loads in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and other modern browsers on desktop and mobile without a plugin, app store listing, or installer.

What inspired Slope Rider?

Slope Rider belongs to a well-known genre of downhill, dodge-and-survive arcade games built around a rolling ball, an ever-curving track, and rising speed. sloperider.lol is an independent browser implementation of that format, rebuilt from the ground up with its own rendering engine, synthesized audio, and no third-party plugins.

Is Slope Rider family-friendly?

Slope Rider is a single-player arcade game with no chat, no user-generated content, and no in-game purchases. It is suitable as a quick, screen-friendly game for a wide age range and works well as a short reflex-and-focus break.

Rules and scoring

How steering, distance scoring, and crashes work.

How do I play Slope Rider?

Hold left or right (arrow keys, A/D, or the on-screen buttons) to drift the ball sideways across the track. The ball moves forward and downhill on its own, picking up speed as you go. Dodge the red blocks and stay within the glowing track edges. The run ends the moment you hit a block or drift off the track, and your distance at that point is your score for the run.

How does scoring work in Slope Rider?

Your score is the distance you travel down the slope before crashing, shown live during the run. Hitting distance milestones unlocks rewards on this device (shown in the stats panel). There are no bonus points for tricks — since speed only increases as you go, a longer survival time on its own produces a higher distance score.

What ends a Slope Rider run?

A run ends the instant the ball touches a red obstacle block or drifts past the glowing edge of the track. There is no health bar, no shield, and no second chance mid-run — contact ends it immediately, and you restart from zero.

Is there a way to undo a crash in Slope Rider?

No. Slope Rider is a single continuous run with no undo, checkpoints, or extra lives. That is intentional — the tension of one mistake ending the run is core to the format. Restarting is instant, though, so a new attempt is always one click away.

What are the controls for Slope Rider?

Use the arrow keys or A/D on a keyboard, or hold the on-screen left/right buttons on a touchscreen. Dragging directly on the track also steers the ball proportionally toward your finger. The M key toggles sound on and off without pausing the run.

Strategy and difficulty

How to survive longer and how the run escalates in speed and obstacle density.

How do you get a high score in Slope Rider?

Score is your distance traveled, so the goal is simply to survive as long as possible. The most reliable approach is reading the track two segment-lengths ahead instead of reacting to whatever is directly under the ball, making small steering corrections instead of sharp last-second swerves, and staying calm as speed ramps up through the Cruising and Redline phases. See the tips page for a full walkthrough.

Does Slope Rider have difficulty modes?

Slope Rider does not use selectable Easy/Medium/Hard modes. Instead, a single Endless Descent run escalates on its own: Warm-up (0–500 m), Cruising (500–1,500 m), and Redline (1,500 m+). Speed and obstacle density shift with distance. Full details are on the modes page.

Why do I keep crashing at the same point in a run?

Every run generates a fresh track from a new random seed, so an exact layout never repeats — what feels like "the same point" is really the same distance milestone, not the same obstacle pattern. If runs consistently end around a similar distance, it usually means reaction time is the bottleneck as speed crosses into the Cruising phase; slowing your inputs down and steering earlier tends to help more than memorizing anything.

Does the track repeat in Slope Rider?

No. Each run is procedurally generated from a new random seed at the moment you press Play, so curves and obstacle placement are different every time. There is no fixed level to memorize.

What happens as speed increases in Slope Rider?

Speed climbs continuously through a run and approaches a high late-game cap. As it rises, obstacle spacing tightens and curves arrive more frequently, which is why longer runs feel noticeably harder in their final stretch than in their first few seconds.

Devices, saving, and accounts

Mobile play, browsers, local progress, and why a run might disappear.

Does Slope Rider save my progress?

Yes. Your best distance, number of runs played, and unlocked distance rewards are saved locally in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and there is no account or login. Because the save lives on the device, a different phone, a new browser profile, or cleared site data will look like a fresh start.

Can I play Slope Rider on mobile?

Yes. Slope Rider is touch-first: hold the on-screen left/right buttons, or drag anywhere on the track to steer directly toward your finger. The layout adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops without needing a separate app.

Can I play Slope Rider offline?

Slope Rider is a browser game and needs a connection to load the page the first time. After that, some browsers may keep the tab responsive without a network connection, but there is no dedicated offline app or install package.

Is there a Slope Rider app?

No official Slope Rider app is required — the game is the website. You can bookmark it or add the tab to your phone’s home screen if your browser supports that, but you still play in the browser. We do not sell a separate iOS or Android build.

Do I need an account to play Slope Rider?

No. There is no sign-up, no email gate, and no profile. Your best distance and run count stay in this browser on this device. The tradeoff is that we cannot restore a run on a new device for you, since nothing is stored on our servers.

How do I reset my Slope Rider progress?

Open the stats panel from the game menu, tap Reset progress, then confirm with the second tap. That clears your best distance, run count, and unlocked rewards on this browser. It cannot be undone.

Why did my Slope Rider progress disappear?

Local saves are lost if you clear cookies or site data for sloperider.lol, switch browsers, use a private window that has since closed, or open the game on a different device. Some privacy tools and OS "lite" modes also wipe local storage. Because the save never left your browser, we cannot recover it from our side.

What browsers does Slope Rider work on?

Any current browser with JavaScript and canvas support: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop, plus their mobile counterparts. If the game does not respond to input, try updating the browser, disabling a strict script blocker for this site, and reloading.
